Amazon Expands Mesa Footprint with $71 Million Warehouse Acquisition

E-commerce giant strengthens logistics network in Arizona with latest purchase

Amazon has significantly bolstered its presence in Mesa, Arizona, by acquiring two expansive warehouses totaling over 1 million square feet for $71 million.

The properties, located at 7825 and 8016 E. Pecos Road, are part of the burgeoning Gateway Grand industrial park near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Developed by Greystar Real Estate Partners and completed in 2023, these facilities are poised to enhance Amazon's logistics capabilities in the region.

This strategic acquisition aligns with Amazon's broader initiative to expand its same-day delivery services and support the growing demands of artificial intelligence and data center operations.

In 2025, the company increased its capital expenditures to $125 billion, underscoring its commitment to infrastructure development.

Amazon's investment in Mesa is part of a larger trend of the company fortifying its logistics network across Arizona.

In 2023, Amazon opened a 1.2 million-square-foot storage and distribution center at 8560 E. Elliot Road in Mesa, marking its largest facility in the nation.

This center primarily stores products from third-party sellers, who account for 60% of items sold on Amazon's platform.

The facility employs approximately 800 people, with staffing levels increasing to 1,300 during peak seasons.

Additionally, Amazon has leased a 200,000-square-foot facility at 3405 S. McQueen Road in Chandler since 2020.

These expansions reflect Amazon's strategic shift towards regionalizing its delivery network to reduce fuel costs and expedite order fulfillment.

The company's plan to double its same-day delivery facilities in the coming years is a testament to this approach.

Mesa's industrial sector has experienced significant growth, with over 17.5 million square feet of new industrial and flex space constructed within a five-mile radius of the Mesa airport since early 2023.

An additional 1.5 million square feet are currently under construction, indicating a robust and expanding market.

Amazon's recent acquisitions and developments in Mesa not only enhance its operational efficiency but also contribute to the local economy by creating job opportunities and stimulating industrial growth.

As the company continues to invest in the region, Mesa is solidifying its position as a key hub in Amazon's logistics network.
